Creatively Constipated

I'm currently revising my second novel with my co-author and friend Melonie. For the last three days I've been staring at a chapter that has been giving us some trouble. I've made no headway in the chapter and I've had a few ideas twirl around but then vanish like chocolate in a house full of women. I've finally decided that my creativity is blocked or backed-up, so to speak. :) So I've decided to grease the wheels by reading. Tomorrow I'm going to go try a bakery that has gluten free cupcakes, then take the kids and my friend to the beach and read. I'm not going to think about the plot problems for a full twenty four hours and more importantly I'm not going to feel guilty about it. I know that that plan will help my creativity be more- er...regular and cure my creative constipation. I know I'm not the only writer with this problem, so my question is, what do you guys do to get past your creative blocks?

Time away is just what you need...so good job plannign some fun! Which beach are you going to? if you're in the area stop by, but I'm guessing you're heading to Maddy's neck of the woods? Either way, come visit me soon :)

First off, I love the title! Second, I think you're on the right track. For me I like to read something completely different. Also, listen to music. It always inspired me and puts me in the writing mood. I can send you my book if that helps ;-p.
