Not exactly

First off, is it just me, or does anyone else look at this picture and think, "Hello, Clarice"?

Just needed to get that out of the way. Anyway, in April, I was able to attend the RT Times writers convention. I was going to have a signing, and was excited to meet with fans, friends, and a lot of other authors whose books I love.

I decided to take some extra time and effort with my appearance and used a new product on my face, but I had a bad reaction to it. I woke up the first morning and found myself with around fifty (and I'm underestimating) whiteheads. They were small, but they were noticable. It felt like I had glued gravel to my face.

I did everything I could think of. I picked, masked, iced; heck, I even Biore stripped them. (Yes, I talk a lot, but those are Biore strips, not my friends taping my mouth shut.) Well, nothing helped. If anything, it got worse! Finally, I decided not to let my face determine the level of fun I would have at the conference . So I put on my normal make-up, wore an extra big smile, and went on my way. Sure, it wasn't exactly the way I had envisioned my experience, but you know what? It really didn't matter. I didn't let it distract me and I had a great time.

I think this can apply to lots of things in our lives. Have you ever had a time when you didn't look your best, or things didn't go as planned, but you chose to have a good time anyway?

That pic is too funny! And yes, it does scream "Hello Clarice"!

I'm that way with the current author photo I have (which I hate). But you just have to let it go and enjoy anyway, right? Great spirit you have!

Bless your heart! And go you for not letting it stop you from meeting fans and having fun. That just shows why you're a published author. Tenacity and courage. :)

BTW, I'm giving you an award tomorrow on my blog, so please drop by if you have time! :)
